What're a couple of lines that perfectly capture a world of melancholy for you? I've always been fond (by which I mean chilled to my core) of The Mountain Goats' "And I want to go home / But I am home".

There was a post on The Other Place that asked this question, starting with Tom Waits' "She was 15 years old and had never seen the ocean", but it's down now so I can't link it.
